Does God want us to worship Him as Father?

Question: "Does God want us to worship Him as Father?"

The true God deserves and desires our worship with our inner selves and as He truly is. "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24).

The truths of God, preserved for mankind in the Christian Bible, point to the door through which we can approach and worship the holy God from whom our sin has alienated us. Jesus said, "No one comes to the Father but through me" (John 14:6b) and also "I am the door, by me if anyone enters in, he will be saved" (John 10:9).

Our response, with our true inner selves and with sorrow for having sinned against God, is to approach Him in Jesusí name. God will forgive our sins because of Jesus Christís sacrificial death on the cross. Through a new inner birth by His Spirit, He will make us a member of His family. Then, having become His own spiritual children, we can pray, "Our Father in heaven" (Matthew 6:9a), worship that pleases Him.
